1. Introduction

This is a contract between you and me, as your therapist, for our therapeutic work. It explains how I work so that you have all the information you need. Please take some time to read it carefully.

2. Free Initial Consultation

I offer a free initial consultation for up to 30 minutes to introduce myself and learn more about you, the client. This call is either a phone or online (audio/ video), and not in person. This is an opportunity to understand the challenges you’re struggling with and make sure I’m a good fit and can offer the quality care that you are looking for. You are not obliged to embark on further session(s) after the free initial consultation.

3. Assessment

At the assessment stage, we will discuss about the issues that you want to work on in therapy. During this period, I will try to understand what is important to you and what challenges you are facing. This will help me identify your difficulties and determine the best strategy and plan for therapy. If at any point I feel that another therapist with a different speciality would be more helpful to you, I may offer you a referral.

4. Regularity of Sessions

After you agree to start therapy, I will recommend that you book a weekly 50-minute time slot with me on the Mindsum platform. This will ensure that we have a consistent time set aside each week to focus on discussing the areas of your life that are concerning you. It's important that we commit to this time so that we can fully engage in the therapy process.

5. Cancellation Policy

Any cancellation, changes to the appointment time within 24 hours of your booked session, or non-attendance will be charged at the full fee. This cancellation policy applies to urgent work commitments, holidays, illness, and other emergencies.

6. Planned Breaks

If you need to cancel a therapy session, please give me at least 24 hours’ notice. However, if you cancel a session, you may lose your reserved time slot. If you give up your slot(s) but want to continue therapy later on, you will need to check if there are any available slots. Please keep in mind that there’s no guarantee that a slot will be open when you return.

If you have any upcoming holidays, absences, or want to end therapy, please discuss this with me during a session. Let me know if you anticipate any difficulties attending sessions, and if possible, I’ll try to find an alternative time slot that works for you.

7. Payment

When you make your first booking on the Mindsum Platform, you will need to provide your credit or debit card details to pay for your session. By entering your card details, you give permission for Mindsum Platform to charge your card for the current session and any future session(s) you book. Mindsum Platform won't save your card details, but they will ask your card provider for permission to charge the same card in the future.

Payment for sessions booked through the Mindsum Platform website will be taken immediately. If you need to cancel a session, you can request a refund as long as you give 24 hours' notice. Please don't offer to pay me in cash, by check, bank transfer, or personal account, as I'm only able to accept electronic payments through the Mindsum Platform for administrative purposes. Each session fee will include both the fee shown in my profile and the service fee charged by Mindsum Platform.

If your credit card expires or a charge fails for a follow-up session, please update your card details. You will usually receive a notification before your card expires. If Mindsum Platform can't take payment before the start of a session, the session will be automatically cancelled.

8. Late Attendance

Please ensure that you arrive at the designated appointment time as it may not be possible for me to compensate for any delay caused by your late arrival.

9. Therapist Absences

I will provide you with ample notice of my planned holidays and any unexpected absences, which I aim to keep to a minimum. Please note that you will not incur any charges for my absences.

10. Safety

Given that I cannot ensure my availability, I am unable to provide emergency support. In the event that you are facing any form of danger, I advise that you immediately seek assistance from emergency services (A&E) or your GP. We can discuss this matter further during our next session.

To ensure that the therapeutic process is optimised, please refrain from arriving under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs. If I suspect that this is the case, I may choose to end the session early or not begin the session at all.

I acknowledge that therapy can evoke intense emotions that we will strive to address together. In the unlikely event that I observe emotions intensifying to a level that, in my view, cannot be managed within the therapy space, I will conclude the session prematurely.

11. Ending Therapy

Therapy cannot be viewed as a comprehensive solution, and it is important for both you and me to take responsibility for your progress. I encourage you to openly discuss your thoughts and experiences with therapy. If you feel that therapy has lost its purpose or if you are not experiencing any benefits, please do not hesitate to discuss this with me. It can be constructive to work through these challenges.

In the event that either of us decides that it is time to conclude the therapy, we will have a conversation to determine the best way to end the therapeutic relationship. If you choose to end the therapy, I would appreciate as much advance notice as possible so that we can work towards a healthy conclusion.

If, for any reason, I need to terminate our sessions and you wish to be referred to another therapist within Mindsum, I will honour your decision. I will be responsible for maintaining your complete records until they require secure disposal in accordance with the requirements of my professional organisation and current laws and regulations.

12. Confidentiality

While our therapy sessions are conditionally confidential, there are situations in which I am legally obligated to disclose certain information. Specifically, I must inform appropriate agencies if I believe that you pose a danger to yourself or others. I am also required to share information if ordered to do so by a court of law, or if necessary for the prevention, detection, or prosecution of a crime. However, these situations are rare, and I will normally inform you beforehand if I am required to act in this way.

By agreeing to this agreement and/or continuing with your first therapy session, you are consenting to my holding and maintaining your assessment information and any other information you provide to me in accordance with relevant legislation and professional standards. You are also consenting to Mindsum Platform holding the necessary information to facilitate our working arrangement, including personal data, sensitive data, and the processing of data under the GDPR regulations.

As part of my commitment to good practice, I am required to participate in supervision. Any notes taken during these sessions are confidential, and I will not use full names.

13. Additional Services

If you require me to draft reports or letters on your behalf, please note that I will charge my hourly rate for the time spent on their preparation. Kindly inform me beforehand if you are requesting a professional letter or seeking therapy as part of a legal case.

14. Contract

This contractual agreement does not involve Mindsum Platform, and therefore, any responsibility for the advice and treatment that I provide does not lie with Mindsum Platform. They shall not be held liable for any arising liabilities.

15. Insurance

Being an independent practitioner, I maintain professional indemnity insurance.

16. Complaints

If you ever feel dissatisfied with the therapy process, please don't hesitate to discuss these feelings with me. In the event that you have a complaint about my behaviour that we cannot resolve or that you believe is serious enough to warrant contacting my professional body directly, you may do so.

Complaints related to the booking system, website, or app should be directed to Mindsum. They are not able to address issues related to our therapeutic relationship or my conduct. If you approach them with such issues, they will advise you to either speak to me or contact my professional body.

For technical complaints, please submit a written complaint to [email protected]. Mindsum will make every effort to resolve your concerns and typically respond within 2 working days.
